Guilin to Hong Kong - plane or train??

Hi there...

Next week I will enter China with my 7 year old daughter to travel all over before flying out of Hong Kong to return to Canada.

I am thinking that Guilin will be our last point in China before entering Hong Kong.

Has anyone got any good tips for cheap flights into Hong Kong from Guilin? Or can anyone comment on their experiences taking an overnight train from Guilin to Shenzen and then how easy or difficult it will be for us to get to Kowloon from Shenzen?

I am trying to find the most economical but comfortable way into Hong Kong from China with my small daughter. And smoking is a major factor with my daughter's asthma. I need at least a soft sleeper so I can get her some sleep without her having an asthma attack from being around smokers all night.

Also, is anyone has take a flight or train recently and can comment on approximate prices, that would be great. I am not having much luck on the train sites today.

The flights look pretty pricey!!

Hi, Cora,
I recommend you to take flight from Guilin to Hongkong since your daughter has asthma. There are lots of smokers at train stations and on trains. So give up taking train from Guilin to Shenzhen.  The best option is taking plane from Guilin to Guanzhou or Shenzhen, and then change ferry boat to Hongkong. Good luck.
